About the event

Polish Folk Dance Workshop
The Polish Club at Ohio State, the Polish American Club of Columbus (PAC) and the Polish Studies Initiative (PSI) invite you to join us for a special workshop celebrating the traditions of Polish dance! Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced dancer, participants will be invited to try a simple folk dance and even a song in Polish. We will also showcase four regional folk costumes, each with its own story and tradition. Together, we will celebrate the richness of Polish heritage in a joyful, interactive way.

This event is free and open to the public!

Meet Your Instructors
Zuzanna (Zuzia) Hammond and Maciej Pietrzak
Zuzia and Maciej will be our guides into a lively encounter with Polish folklore. Active members of the Polish American Club, they share a passion for Polish culture and volunteer their time for this event.

Zuzia, a former dancer with Raciborzanie from the Śląsk region, and Maciej, bringing his fresh enthusiasm (with 3 lessons under his belt), will introduce us to traditional Polish dances. They will wear authentic folk costumes once belonging to LAJKONIK, the Polish American dance ensemble founded at The Ohio State University.

What to bring/wear:
- Comfortable, flat, closed-toe shoes
- Loose clothing for ease of movement
- Water will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own refillable bottle

If you have any questions about this workshop, please email PSI Program Coordinator, Alicia Baca at YmFjYSAhIDMxIHwgb3N1ICEgZWR1.

Founded on March 7, 1980, the Polish American Club of Columbus was created to foster social and cultural connections between Poles and Americans in the Columbus area. Over the years, many dedicated members—including John Pupa, Walt Metka, and others—have served multiple terms as President, shaping the club’s legacy.
