Joe Hen & The Real McCoy: celebrating two genius jazz composers.

Jazz @ Old First continues with this concert of unique and infectious tunes by jazz greats Joe Henderson and McCoy Tyner. Paul Strawser (piano), has culled together an excellent program of both classic and lesser-known compositions by these two legends, and few composers pair together so well! As it happens many of the definitive versions of their tunes involved the other musician being in the band. Paul's band for this night is a quintet and features Jake Smith- saxophones, Ivan Murray- trumpet, George DeLancey- bass, and Louis Tsamous- drums.

- $15 adult admission, $10 college students, kids free.

There will also be a drawing for a free copy of Joe and McCoy's outstanding, recently-released double live album, "Forces of Nature: Live at Slugs Saloon".

Doors open 7:30, music starts at 8 pm. Old First is at the corner of Bryden and Ohio in Olde Towne East. There is usually always plenty of street parking on Bryden and the church also has a small gravel lot in back. ENTER through the SOUTH SIDE (big red) door.
