The Tlazolteotl posture comes from the Aztec goddess of purification, steam baths, midwives, filth, and a patroness of adulterers. She gives healing through cleansing us of our misdeeds and impurities, guilts and regrets. In her sweat lodge we sweat out our impurities, leaving us pure.
Those new to Posture Trance are welcome. Trance is a method for widening your perspective and helps rebalance your nervous system. Participants need not subscribe to any particular set of beliefs in order to experience what the trance session offers and are encouraged to interpret their experience in whatever way is most appropriate for themselves.

Dr. Susan Josephson (a retired philosophy professor) will be leading the trance session with the assistance of Dawn Thompson, Rebecca Dunaway, Ruby Redd, and Marie Miller. For forty years, Susan has been leading Posture Trance sessions based on the work of her mother, the anthropologist and spiritual teacher Felicitas D. Goodman. ( cuyamungueinstitute.com ) See Susan’s books CALLING SPIRITS WITH POSTURE TRANCE, and PROPHESY, SPIRITS, TRANCE, A SHAMAN GUIDEBOOK, (both available through Amazon.com) to learn more about these trances and shamanistic spirituality.
