Please read: Back to School Shop Night is coming Monday, August 25 from 3 to 7 p.m.
We have noticed and been told that many students from kindergarten through high school at Colton schools need backpacks, shoes, jackets, hoodies, and nice clothing for the back-to-school season. Our supply is running very low. If you have any brand-new or clean, usable items you would like to donate, you can drop them off at the Colton Clothes Closet on Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Colton Fire Station Monday through Friday, at the Colton Café Wednesday through Sunday or message us. We appreciate any help you can provide.
Now read the story from last year—and smile big, knowing how our community helps so many of our kids feel good as they start another year of school.
Last year, during our Back-to-School night, a young girl going into first grade came into the Clothes Closet to shop for school clothes. She and her mom began by looking at dresses in her size. The girl found the perfect glittery dress, “so beautiful”. She held it up and spun around. The mother and daughter then went to check out the shoe section, where they found a pair of glitter shoes. The little girl picked them up. Her mother leaned over and said, “You need to decide if you want the dress or the shoes, and we will leave one of the glitter choices for another little girl to choose”. That special dress was the choice, and yes, by the end of the night, the glitter shoes were gone, and another little girl had found something special for her first day of school.
Colton Community Clothes Closet is located in the Parish Hall adjacent to the Colton High School parking lot. There is no cost for any items. Please come and pick up what your student needs or can use. Please donate if possible. Let’s meet some needs.
