Texas A&M Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) and Texas Task Force 2 (TX-TF2) are the Urban Search and Rescue teams that serve the state of Texas. Both task forces will be accepting applications from prospective Canine Search Specialists this summer. No canine or prior canine training experience is required to apply for these volunteer positions.

During this meeting, we will cover:
• The TX-TF application process
• Handler training requirements
• Canine training expectations
• A Q&A session to address your questions
Following the meeting, attendees are invited to observe and participate in canine training with current handlers. This hands-on experience provides an in-depth look at what it means to serve as a TX-TF canine handler.
What to Wear & Bring
• Please come prepared for a full day of training:
• Long sleeves, long pants, and close-toed shoes
• Clothing you don’t mind getting dirty
• Helmet and gloves (if you have them; extras will be available)
• Bug spray and sunscreen
• Check the weather before arriving and be prepared for all conditions — we train in the rain.
• Water will be available on the training field, and a 1-hour lunch break is scheduled.
Do not bring a canine to this meeting.
Attendance is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended for prospective applicants.
