A warm summer evening sets the perfect stage for a laid-back yet unforgettable evening where Walla Walla's community unites for the Sizzle and Sip Barbecue competition. This is a signature event supporting the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network Lights of Hope fundraising campaign.
This event will support the ACS CAN's advocacy mission with our lawmakers at both the federal and state levels to ensure that cancer prevention programs, cancer treatment coverage and cancer research is made available to everyone.
This lively gathering celebrates local flavors, community spirit, and the power of hope in the fight against cancer. Please note this event is 21+ only.
WHAT TO EXPECT
BARBECUE SHOWDOWN
Several of Walla Walla’s and the surrounding area's top BBQ masters will go head-to-head, serving up their best grilled creations. Expect a mouthwatering array of styles, each vying for the title of Best BBQ in Walla Walla. From smoky classics to bold new flavors, there will be something to satisfy every barbecue lover
SIP LOCAL SYRAH & CRAFT BEER
Complement your barbecue with tastings of Syrah from some of Walla Walla’s renowned wineries. This region is celebrated for its expressive, site-driven Syrah’s—robust, nuanced, and perfectly paired with barbecue fare. For beer enthusiasts, Five Dollar Ranch Brewing will be pouring a beer created especially for this event.
FUN, GAMES & RAFFLE
Enjoy games and activities throughout the evening. Try your luck in the raffle for a chance to win fantastic prizes generously donated by local businesses and supporters. All proceeds help fund cancer advocacy effort both at the federal and state level.
LIGHTS OF HOPE LUMINARIA CEREMONY
As the sun sets, join us for a moving luminaria ceremony. Dedicate a luminaria to honor a loved one touched by cancer—whether a survivor, someone currently battling, or in remembrance. The glowing lights will serve as a powerful symbol of hope and unity in our shared mission to end cancer.
WHY IT MATTERS
Every plate, every glass, every raffle ticket helps advance the American Cancer Society’s advocacy mission, sending a message to the leaders of our country and our state that we need more funding for cancer research and prevention, that we need to focus on the quality of life of patients and their families, that we need to put an end to this disease as we know it.
