Music That Looks — and Listens — Differently
Step into the season with The Overlook Quartet, a boundary-pushing string ensemble dedicated to spotlighting overlooked and underrepresented voices in classical music. In this deeply personal and powerful concert, the quartet invites audiences to listen closer — to the textures, stories, and histories often left out of the canon. With music by composers of color and works rooted in identity, memory, and cultural heritage, this performance is both thought-provoking and soul-stirring.
Based in New York City, The Overlook Quartet features violinists Monica Davis and Yezu Woo, violist Angela Pickett, and cellist Laura Metcalf — four of the city’s most expressive chamber musicians. Formed during the pandemic through outdoor performances in Upper Manhattan, the ensemble has since earned national acclaim for their inventive, inclusive programming and emotionally resonant performances across the country.
Presented in the intimate and acoustically rich setting of historic St. John’s Church, this concert brings chamber music back to its roots: up close, immediate, and profoundly human. Discover why The Overlook Quartet is one of the most exciting young ensembles on today’s classical music stage.
