WHAT IS BUILD A FARM IN A DAY
It's exactly that - building a farm in 24 hours! We did it in 2022, now we are doing it again in 2025. But we need your help!
This is your opportunity to join us, be part of a meaningful movement and help us Build a Farm in a Day at Colac Secondary College in Colac. Everyone is invited!
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING
The plan is to transform an unused patch of land into a thriving, sustainable and organic farm. The catch is it is scheduled to happen in only one day - that’s right, one day! If this kind of challenge speaks to you, then sign up to be part of the action.
We are aiming to build 3.4km of linear garden beds. This is about coming together as a community, to create a place of purpose that will educate, connect, inspire and nourish generations to come.
Be prepared to assist with manual labour such as wheelbarrowing soil, laying cardboard, planting seedlings and anything else that is required to achieve our goal of a no dig, lasagna garden.
Back in 2022, Costa Georgiadis was one of more than 600 volunteers, who over the course of 24 hours created 2.5km of no dig garden beds at Bellarine Secondary College in Drysdale. Costa will return to Colac to be part of the 24 hour farm build, and you can work alongside him.
“It really was an incredible show of community support in kickstarting Farm My School Bellarine," says Costa.
Now you can get your hands dirty again with Costa, plus many other guests.
WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING
There will also be food trucks, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, yoga classes, merchandise stalls, and more.
WHAT YOU NEED
Please bring a positive attitude and willingness to work. Dress in attire suitable for farming, and wear comfortable shoes and gardening gloves. Bring your own picnic rug, jackets and water bottles. There will be food to purchase, and we are aiming for it to be a zero-waste event.
WHO ARE OUR PARTNERS
Thanks to funding and support from VicHealth, Colac Otway Shire, Colac Area Health and Colac Secondary College, this will be Farm My School’s second working school farm, where students alongside farmers will grow and cook organic produce, learn about healthy food systems, and build stronger connections to Country and community.

Every ticket holder is welcome to stay for the remainder of the day or evening to enjoy food, entertainment and workshops. Each ticket is also valid for the official opening on Sunday at 9am.
All ages and abilities are welcome, but numbers are limited.
