Wild Mushroom Walk with Ariel Bonkoski

Join Ariel Bonkoski for a guided hike to explore the wondrous woods in search of mushrooms! We will start by reviewing basic mushroom foraging information, discussing some mushrooms we might encounter, and covering some hiking guidelines. We will then head into the woods to find and identify mushrooms! We can harvest mushrooms that are edible, medicinal, or have other uses. We will wrap up our adventure with some information on storing or preserving the mushrooms we have found, as well as cooking tips for any edible mushrooms.
Please come in comfortable hiking clothes/shoes and bring beverages. Optional items to bring: notepad and pen to take notes, camera, a basket/paper bag/mesh bag to carry mushrooms in, and mushroom field guides to compare our finds.

Ariel Bonkoski is a self-taught mushroom expert from Duluth, Minnesota, active in education and citizen science since 2016. Known for her enthusiastic teaching style, she leads mushroom ID programs across North America and is a passionate Minnesota Master Naturalist devoted to lifelong learning and connecting people with nature.
