In this workshop, you will learn the techniques of Renaissance painting and you will be shown how they are applied in Contemporary painting, even by the most cutting-edge painters of today. The themes and subjects might have changed over the centuries but the principles and techniques of painting have not.
By bridging the past and the present, using practical skills and learning fundamental ideas, you will gain a much broader perspective and appreciation of art in general, regardless of what era it comes from.
You will begin to understand why different methods and techniques are used and what results they produce. This will give you much more freedom and practical expression when it comes to creating your own paintings, and will add greater value to your work.
Starting with some small painted studies, the main workshop project workshop will be a contemporary painting - in style, theme and subject - but utilising the timeless techniques that were forged by the Renaissance masters.
