Ithaca, NY based alt.country rockers, Freight, are touring the midwest with their newly released album, Old Bones, in tow. Recorded at Grass Alley in Chicago, IL, Sunwood Studios in Trumansburg, NY, and Electric Wilburland in Newfield, NY, the album was produced by Jaime Gartelos and comprises 10 original, roots-based tracks—ranging from contemplative, downbeat meditations to full-tilt rockabilly and Crazy Horse-style rockers.
"Earthy and ethereal, raw-boned and rich, immersive and impeccably crafted, this 10-song set comfortably inhabits the sweet spot between country, folk, roots-rock and Cosmic American Music." - Tinnitist
"In the Cosmic American tradition of looking beyond the grave and past the atmosphere, FREIGHT have mastered an art form of transcendental country." - Americana UK
Led by the songwriting of Indiana native, JP Payton, Old Bones blends East Nashville polish, garage rock grit, and a devil-may-care attitude. Freight has long explored the universal themes of love, longing, and loss, and on Old Bones, they double down, delivering an album that is both timeless and refreshingly original.
Armed with the art-rock inclinations of Wilco, the rootsy swagger of Sturgill Simpson, the understated cool of Tom Petty, and the songcraft of Jason Isbell, Old Bones cements Freight’s place as an adventurous yet deeply rooted band.
With soaring pedal steel, syncopated acoustic guitars, bombastic choruses, and innovative production, Freight makes a bold statement as a top-tier original band in the wider Americana and Roots scene.
Opening the show is Cleveland based G.S. Harper. G.S. Harper, an independent singer-songwriter and guitarist, was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas where he taught himself to play guitar at the age of 12. He began playing live at the age of 14 and everything since then has been what he calls a long and crazy ride. One that's not going to stop any time soon.
For the last 16 years, Harper has called Cleveland, Ohio home. Its gritty, hardworking, rust belt attitude gives depth to his songwriting and has proven to be a good match for his Texas roots.
Harper has played all over the United States, in small corner pubs and major arenas. He performs his original work and works as a freelance guitarist and bassist, working with bands and solo artists, from local independent musicians to national touring artists.
