A History of Hanover House and "Can You Build It?" Hands-on Activity

Hanover House may be over 300 years old, but this year it is celebrating its 30th anniversary of being located in the South Carolina Botanical Garden on the campus of Clemson University.

Thanks to a grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Department of Historic Properties is hosting a series of speakers and hands-on, family-friendly activities to celebrate the anniversary throughout the month of October.

Join us at 11 am at the Hayden Conference Center (located in the S.C. Botanical Garden) — “A History of Hanover: A Facilitated Discussion” with Rick Owens, historic preservation officer, and Holly Corbett, historic site guide. Their talk will be followed by a hands-on activity for all ages titled “Can You Build It?” start at 12 pm.

When Hanover House was moved, it was taken apart, pieces were labelled, and the house was put back together again at its new location. Participants will try to rebuild a house as well as create their own new designs.
