September Book Choice: The Familiars by Stacey Halls

Our September choice is set during the 1612 Pendle Witch Trials; The Familiars follows 17-year-old Fleetwood Shuttleworth, a noblewoman desperate to survive her fourth pregnancy. When she hires a mysterious midwife named Alice Grey, their fates become entwined. As accusations of witchcraft swirl, Fleetwood must risk everything to save Alice—and herself—from a society gripped by fear and suspicion
