The Dirt Bag is an annual gravel grinder event historically organized by the late John Egbers.
The inaugural Dirt Bag event was held in 2010 by Brian I. and Ben Doom of Revolution Cycle & Ski. As one of the earliest organized grassroots gravel events in the area, it has become a beloved tradition.
John E. was renowned for his inspirational influence on numerous riders, consistently offering assistance and encouragement to those he encountered daily. Many participants have shared stories of John's profound impact on their lives and cycling experiences.
All are welcome to participate in the Dirt Bag event, whether to compete or simply enjoy the ride, with opportunities for socializing before and after the event. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
The short course (approximately 40 miles) comprising half paved and half gravel roads, is an excellent option for beginners or riders who prefer a shorter distance.
This year, the longer routes (70/100 miles) will be combined into an approximately 80-mile course, with the exact distance and route to be confirmed closer to the event date.
Participants may ride gravel bikes, mountain bikes, fat bikes, or electric-assist bikes; however, please indicate e-bike usage on the release form, as these will not be included in timed results.
