Ucross Founder's Day

Join us on Saturday, May 31, for our fourth annual Founder’s Day celebration—a free, family-friendly event set on our breathtaking 20,000-acre ranch in northern Wyoming.

Festivities begin at 10 a.m. with the debut of "Confluences," a new immersive sound art installation on the Ucross grounds.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., tour the studios of our current artists-in-residence, meet the artists, and experience the creative process in action. Enjoy live music by ensembles from the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra as you explore, and don’t miss a special jingle dress dance performance by Ucross alumna Sarah Ortegon HighWalking (Eastern Shoshone, Northern Arapaho).

At 1 p.m., the Ucross Art Gallery will open "Luminous Forms," a new exhibition curated by Ucross alumna Emily McElwreath, host of "The Art Career podcast." Featuring work by eight nationally recognized contemporary artists, the exhibition explores how artists engage with light as material, metaphor, and emotional force. The opening includes a curator talk with Emily.

Bring a picnic blanket and relax on the lawn at the Big Red Ranch Complex. A pop-up Ucross Café food truck will offer housemade pizza, ice cream sandwiches, coffee, and pastries for purchase throughout the day.
