About the event

Why Humanists Need to Change Their Media Tactics
The New Atheists became popular at a time when books could captivate a country. That time is long gone. While some politicians and powerful religious groups have adapted to a new era of media, secular organizations and people have not. Let's talk about what needs to change in our community and how all of us can play a part in that.

Join Hemant Mehta, writer, speaker, and creator of The Friendly Atheist, for an engaging look at how Humanists can better share our stories, shape public conversations, and reach the next generation. With humor and insight, Hemant explores how we can make our values of reason, compassion, and ethical living resonate in a noisy digital world.

Hemant Mehta is the founder and editor of FriendlyAtheist.com, a YouTube creator, and a podcast co-host. He is a former National Board Certified math teacher in the suburbs of Chicago and continues to coach a nationally competitive public speaking team. He's the author of multiple books, publishes crossword puzzles for the New York Times and Slate, and was a Jeopardy! champion.

This Platform will feature music from The Ethical Band, the house band at the Ethical Society of St. Louis. It is composed of and led by members who are musicians of all kinds, ages, and skill levels. Whether you are a trained player, beginner, or just want to shake a tambourine, The Ethical Band is a great way to both dip your toes into performing and become more involved in our Humanist community.
