Come one and all to help christen our new camp kitchen by the fire pit as we cook our annual batch of Stone Soup on December 20!
Held each December on the Saturday before Christmas Eve, Stone Soup is our annual community outreach event. Everyone is invited, and all are encouraged to bring something for the pot or for the table.
We start cooking up 2 big pots of soup @5:00, adding the ingredients brought by the guests. 1 pot is strictly vegetarian, while the other pot is for omnivores. @7:00 or thereabouts, we serve up our soup, and whoever finds a stone in their bowl wins a small prize donated by Toad Song Farm.
Fellowship and merriment around the fire lasts most of the evening, and when guests leave, they are encouraged to take away containers of soup to share with their neighbors who couldn't join us. What a great way to let someone who may not have a family to spend Christmas with know that someone cares? Or how about breaking the ice with a new neighbor and invite them to join us next year?
You are welcome to BYOB as well as your contribution to the soup and dinner for the evening. Bring a camp chair, a warm blanket, a friend or two, a clean container to take away some soup, and a musical instrument if you play. At some point, we'll tell the story of Stone Soup (or at least one of the great versions of the story), and we may even share a little song or two as we watch the fire and look at the stars. It's a great way to take a little time out for yourself during the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season.
