An Intimate Evening with Actor Michael Kearns

Commemorate World AIDS Day with actor and director Michael Kearns, who returns to his hometown for a farewell performance of characters from his landmark performance piece, Intimacies. In the mid-1970s, the St. Louis native became one of the first Hollywood actors to publicly disclose his sexuality. He made history again in 1991 when he announced his HIV-positive status to Entertainment Tonight. Throughout his prolific career in film, television, and theater, Kearns has continued to break barriers and advocate for queer and HIV-positive communities both on and off the stage. In honor of World AIDS Day, join Kearns for a night of performance, personal stories, and conversation.

In addition to revisiting several characters from "Intimacies," Kearns will share personal reflections in a new performance piece, as well as in conversation with Joan Lipkin, Producing Artistic Director of That Uppity Theatre Company and longtime friend and colleague of Kearns. Kearns will also be joined on stage by musician Brian Clarke for two musical performances, marking the first time the friends will appear on stage together since high school.
