This holiday season marks a milestone celebration as Claremore's beloved Dickens on the Boulevard commemorates its 30th anniversary. On November 21-22, 2025, the streets of historic downtown Claremore will once again transform into a festive scene straight out of a Charles Dickens novel, offering families a treasured tradition of Victorian elegance and holiday merriment.
"For three decades, our community has come together to create something truly special," says Anita Miller of Claremore Main Street, Inc. "Dickens on the Boulevard has become more than an event—it's a cherished tradition that brings generations together to celebrate the season in the most enchanting way possible."
The 30th anniversary celebration begins Friday evening, November 21st, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and continues Saturday, November 22nd, with daytime festivities from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, reopening that evening from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. During festival hours, West Will Rogers Boulevard will be closed to through traffic creating a pedestrian wonderland spanning the three blocks of historic downtown through the park and eastward to the Museum of History and Belvidere Mansion.
This community celebration features an extraordinary array of authentic Victorian experiences. Storefront windows become "living history" displays with volunteers in period attire portraying Victorian-era artisans. Visitors can enjoy carriage rides, participate in traditional Victorian street dances led by expert instructors, visit with Santa at The Santa Experience, and explore local shops and vendors offering handcrafted, vintage, and boutique goods, for home, gifting, and fashion to delightful confections from local sweet shoppes.
Entertainment abounds with live stage performances, carolers filling the air with holiday music, a 16-man barbershop choir, high wheel cyclists, magicians, street musicians, and beloved characters including street urchin newsies and the jovial Mr. Fezziwig. Families can enjoy a petting zoo, living nativity, blacksmith demonstrations, food trucks offering both modern and period fare, and traditional holiday spiced wassail.
Special activities include "Tales from the Top" historical tours of upper floors in historic buildings, hosted by history explorers Christa Rice, David White, and Megan Douglas in period attire. The Museum of History offers additional reindeer games and activities for children.
Festival-goers are encouraged to dress in turn-of-the-century Victorian attire and participate in the costume contest, beard and mustache contest, and the crowd-pleasing Little Miss Dickens contest.
