At the beginning of February we're running a weekend of hillwalking in Crianlarich.
This is in the Southern Highlands giving us the opportunity to climb some bigger hills.
Tickets will be £57 which includes breakfast, lunches and snacks for the weekend, tea on Saturday night, transport to Crianlarich and the hostel.
We will also be running a beginner and an intermediate winter skills course each day.
If it ain't snowin', we ain't goin! This year we will once again be offering Winter Skills courses on our Crianlarich Weekend Away.
There will be a basic course (covering ice axe arrests, basic axe and crampon use, and moving in winter conditions), and an intermediate course (covering leader-oriented skills and skills using a walking rope to provide security on more difficult terrain).
Both courses will have 6 spaces, and provided we fill these, will cost £40. If we don't fill the spaces, the price may be higher.
Sign ups will NOT be first-come, first-served, places will instead be allocated randomly from those with a space on the Crianlarich trip, with priority given to people whose taking the course would benefit the society most.
You will be able to express your interest in either course on the Secondary Form for the Crianlarich weekend away (so only after you have a confirmed space on the Crianlarich trip).
You will require B-rated boots to do either course, any other needed winter kit can be borrowed from the society. If you are confused what is meant by this please get in touch. If you don't have your own B-rated boots, you may be able to borrow some, so again please do let us know and we will see if any of ours might fit you.
To take part in one of our technical winter routes that we're also hoping to run on the residential, you need to have done the basic course, either on the trip or have covered the required skills before.
