Come join the Onondaga County Fire Chiefs Association and ESIP as we host "Beyond The Sirens, Rethinking Emergency Response"
As first responders, those of us who operate emergency vehicles receive extensive training in an effort to ensure we are operating apparatus as safely as possible.
Our goal is to get to an incident quickly, but without a collision. When accidents do occur, 70% of those injured are occupants of the other vehicles, members of the community that we are committed to helping, but can end up harming.
Despite efforts to make emergency vehicle operations safer, we still see many accidents that could be prevented. Our "Beyond the Sirens" course is designed to act as a refresher, supplementing our initial training.
We will review the best practices that should be followed to prevent accidents, the importance of being an attentive, defensive operator, and the specific circumstances in which we find accidents occur.
We will also discuss mounting evidence that suggests unnecessary use of red lights and sirens problematic, and the need to change our habits to better serve our communities.
This training is open to all members of the emergency services, no matter what you rank is, so please share and register at the following link.
