STX Open Chess Tournament

Most of you probably know that there has been an ongoing, years-long struggle to restore fairness and democracy to Virgin Islands chess. On November 7th, the battle finally ended with a court order and opinion. You can read both on our website. The Association will now convert to the USVI Chess Federation.

Our FIDE rated tournament scheduled for December 6 & 7 in the Pavilion at Good Hope Country Day School already has 40 registered participants. This is the largest tournament EVER in the Virgin Islands. There will be no more unadvertised "invitation only" events for the privileged few. Chess is back in the hands of Virgin Islanders where it belongs and open to EVERYONE!

We invite the public to share in our victory. Please stop by and "quietly" observe the brilliant minds of Virgin Islanders (who for too many years were excluded) engaged in the complex and historic game of chess.
