Have you ever wondered about words like: supernatural, otherworldly, spiritual, transcendental, mystical or even magical? In the poetry world, those who deal with these subjects have been called Metaphysical Poets.
We live in a time when we see the word Meta is being used. The application of Physics is a big part of our daily lives. But, what is Metaphysics? We will try to find out through the study of Poetry.
We will meet on Wednesdays from 2 to about 3.30PM around the dining room table at Cherish. During the sessions, there will be time for you to let your thoughts and reactions flow after we see what poets and poetry in the past and present have done and are doing ¨metaphysically¨ in this 5 week series.
Following this Series, there will be a one week break before we begin the next series (subject yet to be determined) on 29 October.
CR (Candy) Green, an American transplant to Aotearoa, has experienced life through writing lyrics, short stories, creative non-fiction and poetry. Last year here in Christchurch a chapbook was published by ngapukapukapekapeka press. Her writing has found publishing homes in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia.
There’s no cost to attend, but donations to support Cherish are always warmly appreciated.
No registration required, just show up! Attendance at every session is not a requirement; join whatever dates you can.
