Antarctic Church Service, Transitional Cathedral

Each year, to mark the opening of the summer season in Antarctica, Antarctica New Zealand organises a service to hand over the Erebus Chalice to be placed in the Chapel of the Snows at McMurdo Station in Antarctica for the duration of the season. This service includes readings and a talk by a prominent Antarctic scientist.
It is also an opportunity for Antarcticans to gather in a spiritual setting and for the general public to join this celebration.
