About the event

An Evening with Emma Timmis & Sam Harvey
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear from two of the most driven but down-to-earth endurance athletes in New Zealand. Whether you're a runner, adventurer, or simply love a good story - this evening promises to be a thought-provoking, entertaining and inspirational event for anyone connected with the outdoors.

Emma and Sam are trail runners and adventurers who have redefined the limits of human endurance with grit, guts, and jaw-dropping achievements.

Emma has run across South Africa, run the length of New Zealand, and run 846.16km on a treadmill in one week, winning multiple Guiness World Records. She is a keynote speaker, coach, and artist, full of passion for life with big stories to tell about big adventures and overcoming personal challenges!

Sam is a Kiwi Backyard Ultra legend, New Zealand Backyard Ultra Record Holder, Winner of the Dead Cow Gully event in 2024, winner of the 100-mile title at Tarawera Ultra 2025 among many other achievements. Sam loves the science behind training and racing and is totally dedicated to one-on-one coaching to show others just how limitless their potential truly is.

Guest interviewer Marty Lukes is also a passionate trail runner and a well-known face in the local running community. He has represented New Zealand six times in the elite Road World Champs 100km events, is a five-time winner of the Buller Marathon, has completed twelve Kepler Challenge races with three wins, plus numerous personal backcountry adventures. Marty also coaches and enjoys sharing his experience and advice.

All proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Speed Freaks, I AM HOPE, and the Rod Donald Trust. The Speed Freaks invest in the health and wellbeing of people in recovery from addiction and mental distress. I AM HOPE, likewise, offers real help to young people in Aotearoa, and the Rod Donald Trust is developing a network of trails across Banks Peninsula to provide an enduring benefit to the outdoor community.
