Find My Ah Gong at Choa Chu Kang Cemetery

Embark on a poignant journey through the transformation of old Choa Chu Kang Village into Singapore’s largest cemetery over the past 30 years. Reflect on the stories behind diverse resting places, including Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and Baha’i cemeteries, as well as the tranquil Garden of Remembrance and the solemn Silkair Memorial. Pay your respects at the wakes of our founding fathers and find solace in the serene Garden of Peace. Join us for a meaningful exploration of history, culture, and remembrance.

Opened in 1946, Choa Chu Kang Cemetery is the only remaining active cemetery in Singapore. Come on a walk with us through the various cemeteries and see how what was once thriving kampungs – among them Kampung Bereh and Kampung Belimbing; has been transformed into the final resting place for many. The tour will also visit sites such as the Silkair 185 memorial, the Garden of Peace where ashes can be scattered, as we reflect on end-of-life journeys.

• Everyone is welcome to participate! Participants 12 years and under must be accompanied and supervised by a parent/guardian at all times.

• Participants should be dressed respectfully in smart casual (i.e. shirt, long pants and covered shoes). Sleeveless attire, shorts/miniskirts or sandals are strictly not allowed. Participants will be denied entry if they dress inappropriately.

• Bring along a bottle of water and an umbrella.
• Participants are encouraged to bring their own earphones (with a standard 3.5mm audio jack) as radio guides will be used for the tour.
• Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.

• Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour for registration.
• Parking is available at the basement of Keat Hong CC.
• Photography is allowed during the tour.
• The tour will proceed rain or shine.
• This event is not wheel-chair friendly.
