Orpington Liberal Club welcomes the return of the Debbie Bond Blues Band with top-notch blues all the way from the US Deep South.
American Singer, guitar player and songwriter Debbie Bond has been performing for decades in the Alabama backwoods & is now a regular on the Southern US and European Club and Festival circuit. The band will feature “Radiator" Rick Asherson on keys, harmonica and vocals, plus renowned drummer & percussionist Sam Kelly with his unique, winning style,
Debbie is Alabama-born & bred. Growing up steeped in blues tradtions from local juke joints to the famed sounds of Muscle Shoals, Her impressive CV includes years of cutting her teeth with traditional Alabama blues masters, like Johnny Shines, Eddie Kirkland, Willie King, Shar Baby, Little Jimmy Reed and more.
Debbie's collaboration with British-born partner “Radiator” Rick on keyboards & harmonica has added a swampy New Orleans edge to her sound.
As a bonus, they'll be a 20-minute mid-evening support spot from veteran local bluesharp man Ross Jacques & guitarist Eric Lindsey.
We're also open to floorspots during the 1st 30 miniutes prior to Debbie's 1st set, which will start shortly after 8. It's 1st come 1st served plug in & play. If you'd like to do a turn please keep it short, sweet & bluesy.
Payment is by hat collection in CASH for the guests with a £8 minimum contribution suggested. Please consider giving a bit more if you can afford it.
The premises & OLC's CAMRA award-winning club bar (CARD payments only) will be open from 6.15 pm. It's Free entry to OLC members with a £1 charge to others payable at the bar.
The venue is a small & friendly volunteer run social club in Orpington town centre, facing Tesco just up from the war memorial. It's also in easy triking distance of the Railway station.
