God has given a specific calling for EACH person to live a life of holiness, which is the common vocation for all Christians. Within this broader call to holiness, God invites some to specific states of life, including marriage, the priesthood, the consecrated life (like religious orders), or a dedicated single life. The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains that every person is called to holiness, to do God's will, and to cooperate in Christ's redemption to find eternal happiness.
