The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides empowers Canadians with disabilities by providing trained dog guides at no cost, enhancing their independence and quality of life.
Mission and Services
The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides is a national charity dedicated to helping Canadians with disabilities navigate their world with confidence and independence.
They provide seven distinct types of dog guides:
- Canine Vision: For individuals who are visually impaired.
- Hearing: For those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Diabetes Alert: To assist individuals with diabetes by alerting them to changes in blood sugar levels.
- Seizure Response: For individuals who experience seizures.
- Service: For those with physical disabilities.
- Facility Support: To assist in facilities such as hospitals and schools.
- Autism Assistance: To support children with autism.
Each dog guide costs approximately $35,000 to raise, train, and place with their handler.
