About A Day with First Responders
Join us for A Day with First Responders on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Chico Marketplace — a free, family-friendly event presented by The Arc of Butte County. The event will be outside in the parking lot area behind Dick’s Sporting Goods.
This inclusive community event is designed to foster trust, confidence, and connection between local first responders and individuals of all abilities, especially those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It offers a unique, non-emergency environment for children and adults to interact with the everyday heroes who serve and protect our community.
Here’s what you can expect:
Emergency Vehicle Displays: Explore police cruisers, fire engines, ambulances, and more
Hands-On Demonstrations: Fire safety gear, K9 unit exercises, drone operations, and CPR simulations
Interactive Activities: Meet therapy animals, and engage in role-play with real first responders
Storytime Sessions: Read-alongs and group engagement led by police officers and firefighters
Quiet Zone: A calming, sensory-friendly space for individuals who may need a break from the excitement
Photo Opportunities: Snap pictures with vehicles, officers, and mascots
Resource Booths: Learn about local safety programs, support services, and inclusive community resources
Live Announcements & Stage Mentions: Featuring thank-yous to sponsors and partners throughout the day
This is not a fundraiser, but a community benefit event made possible by The Arc of Butte County and our incredible local partners. It’s a celebration of inclusion, safety, and togetherness — and it’s open to everyone.
Come build community, break down barriers, and celebrate the people who protect us — in a space where everyone belongs.
