The Harold Washington Library Center, located in Chicago's South Loop, serves as the main branch of the Chicago Public Library system. Opened in 1991, this architectural landmark offers a vast collection of resources and hosts numerous events and programs for all ages. The library is named in honor of Harold Washington, Chicago's first African American mayor.
