We’re thrilled to welcome one of our favorite local zinemakers, Katie Kiesewetter, as our special guest in September! Join us for Shift Notes, an artist talk that digs into Katie's work, outlines her zinemaking process, and attempts to get to the bottom of why people crave restaurant stories. Following the presentation, Katie will lead us through a zinemaking workshop.
Shift Notes: Writing About Work with Katie Kiesewetter takes place at 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7 at the Richard J. Daley Branch of the Chicago Public Library, 3400 S. Halsted St. in Bridgeport. Free!
All zinemaking supplies will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring collage materials if they wish.
Zine Club Chicago is a mask-supportive environment; we’ll have masks available if you’d like to wear one.
Katie Kiesewetter (she/her) is a Chicago-based artist, designer, writer, zinester, bartender, and teacher. Her perzine series Behind, Sharp! explores the pleasures and complications of the service and hospitality industry, combining over a decade of Katie's on-the-job experiences with feminist theory, labor history, and quippy humor.
