Duckville
Dir. Bill Plympton | USA | 8 min | DCP | Chicago Premiere
The King of Indie Animation returns with a twisted fable of fame, fraud, and feathers. In a desperate bid for attention, a quaint duck village stages a phony monster attack, only to spiral into cartoon chaos when their scheme backfires. Classic Plympton: anarchic, absurd, and delightfully unhinged, with squawking satire and hand-drawn mayhem packed into every frame.
Now! More! Yes!
Dir. Max Hey | USA | 75 min | DCP | Chicago Premiere
Milwaukee artist Max Hey set out to document his eccentric landlord—and found a subject he couldn’t look away from. Now! More! Yes! follows the wildly unpredictable life of TW Hansen: blind picture car wrangler, landlord, and amateur auction addict. When Hansen impulsively buys a busted ambulance online with no keys and someone else’s money, a chaotic, hilarious chain reaction unfolds.
What begins as an offbeat portrait of one man’s obsession with unwanted vehicles becomes a full-throttle ride through Midwest eccentricity, auto-industry absurdity, and the manic logic of Hansen’s own sales mantra: “Now, More, Yes!” With shades of Errol Morris and American Movie, Hey’s feature debut is a tender, twisted slice of flyover Americana, where every junker tells a story, and the truth is always stranger than fiction.
