Fera is the latest album from Egyptian composer and multi-instrumentalist Maurice Louca, released on Simsara Records in May 2025.

The nine-track record centers on polyrhythmic grooves and vibrant acoustic textures; violin, synthesizers, custom-built microtonal guitars, and percussion.

With Fera, Louca deepens his genre-defying trajectory; blending psychedelic Egyptian shaabi, cosmic jazz, and experimental sound, while crafting compositions that blur the line between structure and improvisation.

Tracks from the album have aired on BBC Radio, Raiplay Radio, and a wide range of independent radio shows and podcasts. It has also been praised in music outlets including The Wire, Songlines, Rockdelux, and 45-RPM.

Since its release, Fera has received enthusiastic critical acclaim and far reaching support. It was named Album of the Month on Worldwide FM, and featured in NPR Music’s 10 Albums You Should Hear This Month.

The quartet version expands the sound with Dylan Greene on drums

and percussion, alongside Luke Stewart on double bass, delivering the

full rhythmic and dynamic range of Fera in a powerful live setting.
