This panel will examine some of the most contentious immigration policy issues that have emerged since the 2024 election. The question to be addressed is: Where are we a year later?
The panel will discuss various policy areas, including housing, healthcare, education, workforce, and higher education, that have been impacted by the current administration's rapid and dramatic policy shifts.
The discussion will focus on the changes made since the 2024 election and their legal and socioeconomic consequences. It will explore these issues and suggest potential solutions to mitigate the widespread negative effects on the economy, communities, and individuals.
A question-and-answer session will follow this important and wide-ranging discussion.
Panelists are Dan Cooper and Laura Beth Nielsen. The moderator is Sara Cartagena.

Panelist
Dan Cooper is the Senior Director of Research at the Metropolitan Planning Council in Chicago.
Laura Beth Nielsen holds the Board of Lady Managers of the Columbian Exposition Chair in Sociology at Northwestern University and is a Research Professor at the American Bar Foundation.
Moderator
Sara Cartagena is an attorney at Benesch Law.
