Elastro A/V presents a 2-day festival of audio and video installations and performances from a wide range of local audiovisual Chicago artists! Tonight is curated by Yousif Alzayed. The program is titled ‘Expanded Cinema Performances’.
Expanded Cinema Performances will feature three acts of Video Projectionists combined with Musicians and Movement Artists. Each of the three acts will be utilizing the CLEAT system, along with multiple projectors, in order to activate the spatial qualities of video and sound.

Artist Bios
Yousif Alzayed (He/Him) is an interdisciplinary artist working with light, sound, and sculpture to create video-installations and expanded cinema performances. At ElastroAV, Yousif will be collaborating with movement artist Fahed to create an interactive-video system where multiple screens can travel around the room. This will be accompanied by an original composition by Ryan Garvey and Adam Rosenblatt using the CLEAT system.

Fahed Albreiki (He/Him) is a Freestyle Soccer Artist whose performances fuse street dance, intricate juggling, and dynamic storytelling through movement. A five-time world finalist in the Freestyle Soccer Championship, he has showcased his craft in over 30 countries across the globe. With a background in engineering, Fahed has been collaborating with Yousif for the past seven years to blend movement and juggling with multimedia arts.

Ruby Que (They/Them) is an interdisciplinary artist focusing on site-specific interventions and expanded cinema performance. They work with light to open portals and create hauntings. Drawing from their lived experience as a queer, itinerant immigrant, they meditate on yearning and find belonging in transit. They have exhibited and performed at Roman Susan, Poetry Foundation, Comfort Station, Elastic Arts (Chicago, IL), Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art (Ithaca, NY), Stove Works (Chattanooga, TN), SOLOS (Karlsruhe, Germany) and elsewhere. Que holds a BA from Cornell University and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where they currently teach.

IPH (she/her)iph is an multidisciplinary artist with a focus on the ephemeral. through an assemblage of sound, scent, and performance, she engulfs a viewer in an intimate and contemplative environment utilizing emotional textures and harmoniously polarizing concepts, creating a tension with normalcy, and challenging one’s complacency.Social Media Handle: @iph0000
Kat Bawden (She/They)Kat Bawden (she/they) works across photography, video, performance, and light-based installations to explore the relationship between the body, traumatic memory, and time. Attuned to the physiological and emotional effects of light, Kat constructs immersive visual environments that echo between presence and memory, inviting viewers into charged spaces of intimacy, disorientation, and reflection. Kat holds an MFA in Photography from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Before becoming an artist, she studied political philosophy and environmental science at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor and worked as a community organizer. Ryan Garvey (he/they, b. 1993) is a composer, performer, and sound artist whose work queers poetry and stories, collaborates with organisms like slime molds, and spans virtuosic instrumental writing, experimental electronics, and improvisation with guitar, laptop, drones, and feedback.A recipient of the 2025 Charles Ives Scholarship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Ryan is currently pursuing a PhD in Composition and Computer Music at the University of Chicago. At ElastroAV, they present a new work for percussion duo and the CLEAT speaker system and will also appear as an improviser.

Adam Rosenblatt (He/Him)
Adam Rosenblatt appears as a member of Beyond This Point, a Chicago-based collaborative music ensemble dedicated to the advancement of experimental and contemporary culture. Founded in 2014, BTP builds experimental projects that engage with written music, sound art, installation, theater, and live electronics. From the intimate to the monumental, BTP is known for producing unique performances that offer captivating and exhilarating experiences.
