Band Bio
Formed in 2009 by high school friends and guitarists James Hernandez and Noe Perez, EGi (Ethereal Groove Incorporated) has become known for their electrifying live shows and relentless touring. Their genre-blurring sound and improvisational spirit earned them spots alongside national acts such as Twiddle, TAUK, Turkuaz, and Aqueous, and has made them a staple for regional festivals such Summer Camp, Shoe Fest, and many others.
In 2016, EGi released their debut full-length album, Plyatron, recorded at Galaxy Smith Studios in Brooklyn and produced by Dave Brandwein of Turkuaz. The album featured contributions from members of Turkuaz and Dopapod.
Following the departure of drummer Devon Bates and percussionist Michael “Gonzo” Gonzales in 2017, Drew Littel (Cornmeal) joined as EGi’s new drummer. The band returned to the studio in 2018 to record their sophomore album, Vessel, and continued building momentum until the global pandemic brought things to a temporary halt.
After a brief hiatus, EGi made their long-awaited return to the stage in 2023, reigniting their love for live music and reconnecting with fans. In 2024, Allan Borukhovich stepped down, and Grant Martin (Mungion) took over as EGi’s bassist. The following year, they released their first new music in seven years with the singles Tip Toe and Mad.
With a renewed lineup and creative spark, EGi continues to write new music and perform across the Midwest.
