Brass Classics is a snapshot of what “classic” means in the brass quintet world: a legendary composer featured in a fresh setting, an original work that helped define the ensemble, and a masterwork arrangement that shows why transcriptions make up so much of our repertoire.

We open with Mozart’s Horn Quintet, arranged for brass quintet and featuring our horn player Fiona Chisholm—elegant, warm, and full of the kind of horn writing that made Mozart a staple.

Next is Eugène Bozza’s Sonatine for Brass Quintet, a true brass classic in the most literal sense: an original quintet work that’s become a cornerstone of the repertoire—colorful, lyrical, and brilliantly written for the group.

We close with Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 1, arranged for brass quintet—one of the great brass arrangements, capturing Mendelssohn’s energy and sparkle while adding the depth and brilliance only brass can bring.
