Marquise (Quise) Smith is a Chicago-born author and screenwriter whose work blends supernatural elements, coming-of-age grit, and culturally rooted storytelling.

In Extraordinary Individuals: Josiah Rising, Smith imagines a parallel universe where most people develop superhuman abilities at puberty. Josiah must navigate powers, identity, and moral challenges in a world that expects him to rise.

His sequel, Extraordinary Individuals: Agents of Chaos, continues Josiah’s journey—he’s learned to control some of his powers, but new forces, known as the Sentinels, push him into more dangerous territory, testing both his abilities and beliefs.

• Join Marquise for a thoughtful discussion around the Extraordinary Individuals series—how he built this universe, the themes of power, responsibility, identity, and what it means to be “extraordinary.”
• Books will be available for purchase and signing.
• Light refreshments will be served.
• Open to teenagers and adults.

• Signed Book Ticket – Includes admission plus a copy of one of the Extraordinary Individuals books (Josiah Rising or Agents of Chaos), to be signed at the event.
• General Admission Ticket – $5 – Covers entry only. The $5 can be applied toward any in-store purchase during the event.
