About the event
Artful: A Generative Poetry Night at The Walk In
Artful: A Generative Poetry Night is a bi-monthly event hosted by Dr. Carrie McGath a poet and visual artist author of Small Murders and several self-published poetry chapbooks.
The nature of the event combined with the cozy local bar feeling at The Walk In goes a step beyond a reading series and enters the territory of a generative poetry writing event. Each Artful event will lead participants to write their own original poems through ekraphasis poems that describe or are inspired by works of art or found photographs. The visual prompts will change for each bi-monthly meeting of Artful and will be supplied to spur inspired poems. There will be an open mic after writing time for those who choose to read their newly-generated poems.
Enjoy a drink and write a poem or just come by to enjoy the words generated during the first half of the event.
This is a free event and open to art and poetry lovers and poets of all levels.
About the venue: The Walk In is a bar local to the Logan Square neighborhood. Carved from the cooler of the deli next door with the motto "Friendly As Fuck" The Walk In serve people from all walks of life who is looking for a friendly feel-like-home place for a drink or two.
