Secretary Marion Lamb is on the run after having stolen $40,000 from her employer. Travelling by the back roads in order to avoid the police, she is overcome by tiredness during a rainstorm.

She pulls into a small motel run by a young man called Norman Bates and his mother, where the full horror of the night unfolds.
