A young boy named Elliott finds a lost alien who has been left behind on earth. Bringing the extra-terrestrial home Elliott hides ‘E.T.’ but his brother and sister find out and they decide to keep him a secret.

When E.T. falls ill, and the government find out he exists, the children have to come up with an escape plan to help E.T. find his way home.
