About the event

Peake Speaks Lecture Series: Exploring Chesapeake's Vibrant History
Mariner’s Museum Assistant Curator for Community Engagement Erika Ellis explores the world of the Eastern Woodland indigenous people, which includes the Powhatan and Nansemond, and their lives before invasion by European powers. These native inhabitants survived off the land and waters for generations. Their legacy and heritage, once nearly lost, is connected to our local and national story.
