Our Novice Competitions have always been a hit with newcomers to the sport.
Teaching them not only about the intricacies of lifting but how to prepare their warm-ups leading to an awesome performance on the competition platform.
So have you always keen on learning more about how a weightlifting competition works or learn how to be a comfortable competitior?
We are excited to have you join us to learn what's involved in a day of "competing"!
No longer called Novice Competitions, we are now calling it an Assessment Day! This is a good time for you to assess how your movements are travelling in a competition format, or even how your mental game is going when placed on the centre platform!
We intend to walk with you hand in hand through the competition, understanding the proceedings of the competition from your weigh-ins, to your warm-ups and even till the last lift of the competition.
There will be coaches and lifters who will be available to help you through anything you may be unsure of as a competitor and help you get comfortable with the nerves and confusion related to your competition experience.
Format:
We will still run this according to weightlifting regulations with 3 attempts in both the Snatch as well as the Clean and Jerk. Same rules apply to the proceedings of the competition.
P.S. You do not need to be a VWA member to take part in our Assessment Days.
Cost: $50 per entry (Non-members)
Time: 8am-1pm
Date: 13th December 2025
