Join colleagues from the Bjoring Center for Nursing Historical Inquiry and director Dominique Tobbell, PhD, for this celebration of the 125th anniversary of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps.
The event will feature a 30-minute presentation about the history of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps by Charissa Threat, author of Nursing Civil Rights: Gender, Race, and the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, 1939-1969 (University of Illinois Press, 2015), and a 75-minute moderated roundtable discussion featuring a panel of U.S. Army nurses who have served in various roles over the past several decades. Panelists will discuss their experiences as Army nurses, reflect on major changes in Army nursing over the course of their careers, and share insights on the history of Army nursing informs and shapes the present and future of nursing and healthcare.
