We’ll be looking at tools and strategies to target and refine our photo editing skills for a polished image.
The first segment will focus on Lightroom Classic. After a brief discussion of exposure adjustments we will look at masking tools in detail and discuss several powerful applications for these. Finally we will look at how Lightroom’s intuitive and non destructive workflow can save a lot of time without compromising quality.
In our second segment we will take our images into Photoshop to further refine our masking capabilities. This will begin with a brief discussion of why one might choose to mask in one program or the other. We will discuss the relationship between masking and selection and ways to use both for local edits. We’ll look at some of the most useful selection tools to quickly tackle complex subjects. This will include strategies for selecting subjects with soft edges (or no edges at all). We’ll also thoroughly examine how the select and mask panel can successfully process tricky elements like hair, fiber, and foliage: an essential skill to have in your editing toolbox
Afterward I’ll look at projects you bring in for trouble shooting and give pointers about how to apply course concepts.
A general understanding of the Lightroom classic and Photoshop workspace will he helpful to get the most out of this course. The content, however is relevant for all levels of editors. If you currently use Lightroom Classic or Photoshop exclusively, I think this course will make a compelling case to incorporate both to utilize their unique benefits.
We will have a short break in between for questions and lunch.
Individuals of all levels are welcome: Beginners to Experienced!
CLASS FEE: $50, or $45 for CCA members.
