Fire as a tool for forest management - hands on demonstration

WHO should come: Anyone managing woody debris piles or fuel reduction, including (but not limited to) foresters, small woodlot owners, forest restoration practitioners

Anyone intersted in the benefits and/or applications of biochar

While everyone is welcome to attend both days we will have a different focus each day.

November 19:

• Demonstration by a local commercial operator
• Discuss uses in managing slash in commercial forestry and uses of biochar products in contaminant remediation

November 20th

• Group will create biochar using a small flame capped kiln
• Discussion centered around uses of biochar in restoration, carbon sequestration and forest health

You can sign up for only one or both days depending on what you find applicable. Please make sure you sign up for the correct day(s) to make sure we have supplies for everyone.

LOCATION: The specific meeting place on the South Slough Reserve will be shared via email at a later date with registered participants.
