Experience the new SCA Coffee Value Assessment (CVA) in Charleston!
Join us for a two-day, hands-on course designed for professional cuppers and Q Graders who want to master the SCA’s updated system for evaluating coffee. Hosted at Balzac Brothers’ SCA-certified coffee lab in historic Charleston, this immersive training combines lectures, cupping sessions, and group discussions to help you confidently integrate the CVA into your professional practice.
Over the course of two days, you’ll explore the CVA’s sensory references, learn to apply its 15-point intensity scales, CATA lists, and hedonic scales, and practice using both the Descriptive and Affective forms. You’ll also gain insight into the CVA’s extrinsic evaluation tools, building a well-rounded understanding of how this system adds value to coffee evaluation across the supply chain.
This course is ideal for experienced cuppers, Q Graders (current or former), and coffee professionals who use the SCA cupping system regularly. Four assessments—written, olfactory, descriptive, and affective—are included, and successful participants receive a certificate of acknowledgement from the SCA.
For licensed Q Graders, the Evolved Q Grader Fast Track option is available. To qualify, you must also complete the SCA’s separate online application form.
Join us in Charleston’s vibrant coffee hub and take your cupping expertise to the next level!
