Assist Lab

Assist Labs are hands on practice for yoga teachers who want to refine the craft of physical assists with clarity, confidence, and care. This is not about memorizing techniques or forcing shapes. It is about learning how to read bodies, sense readiness, and offer touch that feels supportive rather than corrective.

In Assist Lab, we slow the process down. We work with consent, breath pacing, body positioning, and energetic awareness so assists land as guidance, not intrusion. You will learn how to use your hands, stance, and timing to support students safely while maintaining authority without force.

Each session focuses on practical application. We explore common postures, transitions, and moments where assists are most useful, along with when not assisting is the more intelligent choice. You will practice both giving and receiving assists, develop clearer communication skills, and build trust in your ability to respond in real time.

Assist Lab is for teachers who feel hesitant about hands on work, teachers who were never formally taught how to assist, and teachers who want to sharpen an existing skill set. This is a space to ask questions, make mistakes, and develop discernment without pressure. Come ready to move, practice, and learn through experience. This lab is about cultivating skill you can actually use in class, immediately and responsibly.

Mishiah is a yoga teacher and educator based in Charleston, SC, known for her grounded, body literate approach to practice. Her work centers on embodied awareness, ethical hands on assists, and teaching skills that translate clearly into real class settings. With a background in somatic practice, subtle body study, and long form inquiry, she creates learning environments that prioritize safety, discernment, and practical application. Mishiah’s classes and trainings are designed to help students and teachers move with more confidence, clarity, and self trust, both on and off the mat.
