Unwind this fall with Garden Hour, a unique happy hour series set in America’s Oldest Landscaped Gardens along the Ashley River. Each week, explore a new garden location inspired by Alice, a tribute to artist Alice Ravenel Huger Smith by Dwight McInvaill, Caroline Palmer, and Anne Tinker.
This season’s Garden Hour series begins beneath the towering Middleton Oak. Estimated to be over 900 years old, this iconic oak has stood as a witness to centuries of history at Middleton Place. Its sweeping limbs, draped in Spanish moss, create a dramatic backdrop that has inspired generations, including artist Alice Ravenel Huger Smith, who featured the tree in Middleton Oak and Rice Fields with Miss Josephine Smith.
Enjoy local craft beer, wine, and light bites as garden guides share the remarkable history, age, and preservation of this living landmark, along with the story behind the painting. Experience the oak much as Alice did, as both a natural wonder and a source of artistic inspiration.
Your ticket includes:
After-hours access to the gardens.
Two drink tickets, each redeemable for a full-sized wine or local craft beer from our featured selection. Additional beverages may be purchased.
